


Yagachi river is river in Karnataka India. It arrises in the Western Ghats of near the city of Chikkamagalur,flows through belur taluk,Hassan district,where it becomes a tributary of the Hemavathi river,which it enters near Gorur. It as a small tributary called “votehole or watehole”. Votehole is built on the stream near rajanahalli.
The yagachi dam was constructed in the year 2001. The reservoir is situated at an elevation of 965ms above MSL. The length of yagachi dam is 1280ms. The maximum height above the foundation of the reservoir is 26.237ms. yagachi dam has a gross storage capacity of 3.17Tmcft. On 10th August 2019 the dam recorded a highest out flow of about 25000cusecs,due to a torrential rain in chikkamagalur taluk. Yagachi dam is along with votehole serves the purpose of irrigation and drinking water for the cities of Belur, Hassan,Arsikere and chikkamagalur.
The place is ideal to spend time away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. The cool breeze of the dam rejuvenates the mind and the body. Just sitting near the reservoir and watching the calm water makes one feel relaxed.
